Excellent! That trim can be hard to find.

I've got D-30 Headlamp buckets. Actually, came off a D-35 School Bus. To the best of my knowledge the D-2s are the same. The BRACKETS are sure different.

It is nice to know who has parts or parts trucks to keep in mind just in case... I will be offering up the powertrain parts I don't use in hopes someone can recycle them. I will need to get with the guy I'm buying the truck from this week and work out the headlight situation. There are 3 d series trucks there in pieces, he said 1 had turn signals in the side of the buckets. As you can see in the pics mine doesen't.

The artic cold is delaying everything, My 23x24 garage is beyond full. I don't have a building built yet so a lack of indoor working space is delaying things anyway. I was going to put a 12k winch on my 27' lowboy gooseneck truck hauler this weekend but, the 3-5" forecast for today put a damper on things.

At least I have the new welder I've been wanting...

Re: D30 questions

Today, I went and found the VIN tag. It is chassis number 67570 but, there is no date. Any ideas on what year it is, it doesn't have any turn signals.

I did get the doors to open today with the help of PB blaster and a small pry bar inside the cab. After that I freed the transmission up. Also found 4, 8.25x20 tires that look weathered.

Re: D30 questions

I found two different areas that listed D-30 here: http://content.wisconsinhistory.org/cdm ... 5529/rec/4
the one I looked in was the 1937-1946 group that would place your truck as a later 1939

Re: D30 questions

I'm just curious, did the engine numbers correspond to the chassis number? It still has the HD232 in it, just wondering if anybody knows anything about the engine stampings?

Re: D30 questions

If you have the Data tag, you should find the engine number on it, see if it matches up with what is on your engine. If your truck is low mileage, it could very well be the original.

Re: D30 questions

Here is the latest update...

This truck has a chassis number that looks like 1939, turns out it is a 1940 model...for some reason it never had turn signals. It does have the original engine. The chassis number and engine number match the 60 year old title!

Today, I got around to jacking up the truck to see if the steering still worked. I discovered it seems to steer with ease. The front wheels turn by hand. I greased everything for the first time in 40+ years. I aired up the what is left of the front tires and gently sat the truck back down. The rear tires look hopeless.

I pulled the plugs and filled the cylinders with 50/50 mix of diesel fuel and ATF with a little PB blaster, if it will break loose and sort of run it would sure be helpful. The throttle still opens and I was told the engine turned over back in the 70's.
