Re: C-30 Stake Beauty Shot

When it's cool out I'll snap pics of what I have.
May have to reach out to someone else here with an early C.
Good news is that fixing THAT problem is a lot easier than replacing wooden floor structure!
I think.

Re: C-30 Stake Beauty Shot

Took a look at my unmolested C.
The top wood piece is missing.
However most of the rear cab vertical pieces are there.
The vertical pieces miss the rear wdo by 5 inches?
About a 32-36" piece that ties the two vertical strips together below the rear wdo.
I think the top piece is just a straight piece.
The problem comes in on the top rear corners. These are curved wooden pieces that connect that top missing piece to the wooden pieces behind the doorjambs.
These are missing, too.

Sounds exactly the condition my truck is in
go figure!
I do have the very rotted curved pieces but may not be able to take pattern from them.

Re: C-30 Stake Beauty Shot

In my mind, the curved pieces only help support the back of the door jamb.
Personally, I'd cut out the easy straight easy pieces and install.
And then for now bolt on some metal diagonals to replace the curved pieces?
Later if you wanted you could build and install the curved pieces.

Re: C-30 Stake Beauty Shot

Dos Centavos well taken.
I just found another problem, seems the front spindles are pretty scored.
Can they be rebuilt (turned down sleeved and re-ground)
or is it easier to find good used ones.
your tres centavos would be even more appreciated

Re: C-30 Stake Beauty Shot

I think I have nice C-30 spindles. Good bushings and kingpins, too last I looked.
From a low-mileage truck.
You need to break the barrier and begin posting pictures.
You'll get lots of opinions then...
Maybe your scoring is minor?

Re: C-30 Stake Beauty Shot

Rick, posting pictures in not real hard, especially if you have them on your computer. The only thing is to make sure that they are around 500 MP. When you are posting a message, at the bottom is the way to post pictures that reside on your computer. If it returns and error that they are to big, you will need to resize them in something like "paint" that comes with windows. If they are in a photo sharing site, you should be able to copy and paste the URL into your message. Others more familiar with that way will speak up.

Don,
The scoring is way too bad to live with, seals are also a problem
with the wear on these spindles, looks like the have been seized several times .
I think I may have to make a drive with a list and a bunch of dollars.
If you are willing to part with your parts.
Ibesq,
thanks for the info I guess I'll have to give it a try

That came out fine, and expands either in that window or a new one(my preference)
