Since you look like your handy with the spray gun maybe you could try the Eastwood chrome paint kit. I have seen it used before and it looks just about as close to chrome as possible. Here's a link, http://search.eastwood.com/auto/Chrome%20Paint

Your D-2 looks exceptionally straight! It's great that you know its history and continue to presereve it.
