Engine stamping?

I have two FAB 2 motors. I can't find any numbers on mine. Were they ever stamped with identification numbers? I was told that replacement motors were not labeled.

Re: Engine stamping?

Should be stamped on the BLOCK between #1 and #2 near the jct of the head and block. (drivers side)

no, I must be wrong, I know the FAC and BLD are stamped there. I assumed and thats never a good idea, that the FAB's would be also.

Re: Engine stamping?

I found what is left of the stamping on my 1934. but my 1933 is not stamped at all or the stamping has been surfaced off in a earlier rebuild of the motor. the stamping is center of the block, drivers side just above the lifter cover plate. All that is left on my 1934 is a faint FAB, I can see a 2 below the FAB the rest I am guessing is a engine number to faint to see. I should have looked harder the first time!
