Only trouble is Mike. That engine would sound awful busy at 3400 rpm. 2500 would be nicer, so 4:11 : 1

I have a C30 with a small Aux box behind the main. Works well and at 2400 rpm I can sit on 50 - 55 Mph. I would not recommend going over 50 as the truck was never designed for highway speed and trying to push the old flat head past 2600 rpm is also not a good thing. If you try and replace the diff you have now, you will find your engine will not have enough power. That's where the Auxiliary box behind the main box works well because it adds another gear. These old under powered trucks need all the gears they can get.
