Titles?

I've been told vehicles in the late 30's and early 40's did not have titles. Is this true? I live in Missouri, anyone ever register or title a older truck here? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Yes, old trucks have titles aka pink slips.

I've heard Alabama and Maine don't require titles to register old vehicles. Once registered your local mechanic verifies the vin info matches the registration and then you can get a title for it. Not sure if any of that is true. Missouri also requires titles currently. Hoping someone can shed some light on the subject.

In Colorado there is a process to obtain a title by having the State Patrol do a VIN inspection, then having the DMV do a title search, if a title is found you have to attempt to contact the previous owner by registered mail. Once all of this is done along with a bill of sale you can get a new title. I would suspect Missouri has somewhat similar process for the oldies.
