vin plate help

I got the truck drug home finally, what a chore! I looked at the windshield crank mechanism and I can't really tell, so I took a photo of it, hope you can make it out. Well once again it says my picture is too big. Anyway it appears to be driven by a rod, has a silver sheet metal bracket holding it to the dash. Its also braced by the cowl vent rod on the bottom. Does that make any sense?

I was finally able to get my windshield system working again, it has rods for sure. Works great too, I never would have guessed it would open that far!
