sender unit

Does anyone know the impedence rating on the gas gauge/sender unit on a 1936 6volt 6 cyl flatbed c-30 or where I might obtain a replacement sender unit for this truck? the tank sits under the seat. Thanks

Re: sender unit

No to both questions.
IHC used King Seeley gauges and senders during these years.
They are a different animal so to speak from other gauge/ sender systems.
However, Ford also used King Seeley stuff for a time.
I'm looking for a good sender for my D-2.
I've own(ed) three or four C-30s.
D-30s had underseat tanks, too.
Let us know what you find out.

Re: sender unit

Smog_guy et al, the sender on the tank(which tank appears old and seems a perfect fit beneath the seat may not be the absolute original unit. It has no brackets or support straps and is screwed in through the tank flanges with 3 odd screws.) Anyways, the sender unit is labelled Steward-Warner. No other detectable marks. Maybe this came from some other vehicle? I will keep you posted. maybe it's from a ford or something. Don't know. really doesn't matter to me. The tank is now clean and lined and rust proofed on the outside! Brad

Re: sender unit

I can't imagine another tank from another truck or manufacturer being a perfect fit so I think at this point it's safe to assume you have the original tank.
I'm pretty sure the D30 tank is different sized.
We don't know everything here and it may well be Stewart-Warner. That could be a lucky break.
Does it have a add- on S-W gauge?
It would be interesting to know if a S-W fuel sender would be compatible with the original fuel gauge.
I think the S-W senders are still available? I think I bought mine through JC Whitney long ago.
Good luck!
