In Vietnam we took the headache racks and roofs off of our dump trucks. Wasn't to be out in the sun, but to keep from breaking our neck should a roadside landmine (IED in todays jargon) send us upward. But I don't think that was the problem here. All of the safety gear we take for granted came about with the learning curve and someone's loss of life or limb. MM
