IHC Radiators

Has everyone here had the same overall experience with how well the old IHC rads have held up over the years?
Unless a fan has taken one out I can't remember the last time I was looking for a replacement radiator in my B-C-D-K stuff.
We used to have a veteran radiator repair guy here that started every exchange by cussing your radiator out as a pile of...., etc.
I came in with my then 50 year old IHC rad and the crusty guy said " OH! It's so good!"
BTW. Radiator shops are like telephone booths now. Gone

Re: IHC Radiators

We still have a good radiator shop here in Wichita. They do a lot of industrial and oilfield stuff. But they will still repair any radiator, even if it needs a new plastic tank for example.
Like it says on the sign out front- B&R Radiator- a good place to take a leak.

Re: IHC Radiators

The one surviving rad shop in the next town over does radiator repair "when he feels like it" and usually I'm glad for that.
My little town Dinuba had three rad shops 30 years ago now had none.
So if I'm in any hurry I have to drive about 20 miles to Selma.
Good place to take a leak is funny.
I used to go to an old wrecking yard near a dam on the San Gabriel River and the wrecking yard sign said " Best By A Dam Site".

Re: IHC Radiators

At least the heavy stuff has bolted tanks. I just got one re-cored for my 9670, Same shop I've been useing for 10 years, Good people, not necessarlly the cheapest, but stand behind their work. Once replaced the core free of charge on my Marmon after it started leaking after a year. Of course I felt it should be covered, but they did it without a hassle or a word from me, just took care of it.
Just replaced the 9670 radiator with a wide core one. added one row (to 4 core) and ran me $1550, but the peace of mind to tackle any hill with any load is worth it.
I'm not happy with how thin they are makeing the stuff now a days, but it does transfer the heat better.
