Re: Value ?

Extremely hard to value a restoration. Part depends on what the valuation is going to be used for. If it is for insurance purpose than it should be what it cost to replace the truck, if it is for sale, than it becomes harder to value. That comes down to what the buyer is willing to pay and the seller is willing to accept, so two different peoples judgement.

Sorry forgot to mention:

Not for a sale consideration just for estate value

Not a big deal , but a good educated guess would be better in the file

Re: Value ?

I work on cars every day so I have a different view...
When you reset odometers you screw up all the service records that came before. The truck was NOT made NEW again when the ODO was reset. BTW the ODO reading is a LEGAL thing. You can't just go around resetting odometers on cars and trucks. Old trucks don't usually have enough digits in the odo to denote anything above 99,999, so why reset?
DON'T tell me about small repairs made twenty plus years ago, they don't mean anything.
DON'T tell me about "lube" or "oil changes" made LAST year.
Instead, say "this vehicle has been regularly and aporopriately serviced since acquisition".
To me the truck looks otherworldly GOOD. As in IMPLAUSIBLE.
My alarms would be going off...I would be looking for the hidden flaws.
Having said all that: GORGEOUS looking truck!

Re: Value ?

As for the ODO reset, it is covered for something that old as exempt or TMU or Both. Old trucks like these had speedometers replaced when they went bad, they did not generally spin new ones up to original mileage. Used ones were put in from wrecking yard and again not set to "original" mileage. To look at the truck in the picture, it looks real nice. I would have to see and look it over very close, but a $10,000 valuation is not out of line, based on what even rough running ones are currently bringing. Do a look around to see what similar ones are selling for(asking price).
Just to head off a big discussion, it is a big deal now to Change an ODO, but still, if you change out a NON digital odo, with one from somewhere, you list it as TMU on the title. If it is older than the required reporting on the title, then it is exempt. This can be defined differently in different states.

Re: Value ?

Some of my trucks have gone thru 2 or 3 speedo's not a big deal on older stuff, I just make a note and stick it on the back of the new speedo. All were in excess of 1M miles so beyond mechanical limits anyway. Stuff like my K's are 70+ years old, to expect any accuracy after all that time is un-reasonable, If given the option, I check the box that states the mileage is not known to be accurate. The laws are mainly to prevent any "funny business" where the vehicle is internationally misrepresented.

Re: Value ?

I'm thinking that you moved the odometer numbers forward to 112,000 miles to be more accurate.
I think you know the value of your truck very well. Be honest with yourself.
This forum is not a good place to ask for a $ value.
There must be recognized professional valuaters where you live.

I disagree about this forum I think all of You boys that I was thinking of have now chimed in.
I got the feel I needed and will leave it at my original honest thought. :)

Thanks over and out..

Be safe

I was suggesting that an insurance company will not likely accept a bunch of guestimates from a biased forum.
