UC-301 ??

I picked up a UC-301, 6 cylinder gas engine.
What do I have?
Can I use it for a pickup truck?

I am not very familiar with this particular engine but in IH terminology, the U means it was originally built for sale as a power unit most often used as a stationary engine. The C means it is gasoline or LP gas powered as opposed to D for diesel, but you probably already knew that. And of course 301 is the displacement in cubic inches. A search online shows the C-301 as being used in the 806 farm tractor and the 2806 industrial tractor. I don't know how much these engines have in common with the truck engine family.

Re: UC-301 ??

check the I.D. plate, for XXX Horsepower,@XXXX R.P.M. If you're in the 95-130 H.P. @ 3,000-3,500 R.P.M.,you may have a good candidate, depending on what year/style vehicle you plan on dropping this engine in to.. First, you need to check the LENGTH of the engine, (Radiator/firewall clearances), motor mount location(s),,radiator inlet/outlet,fuel pump placement, Exhaust routing, and any other obstacles that would require firewall, frame, and steering clearances. AND...Will this engine bolt up to a truck clutch/bell housing, without a lot of fab work?? Hope this helps.

Re: UC-301 ??

The 301 is based on the same family as the pick-up 6. The industrial/ag engine has a taller deck height, lower operating speed and different crank position in the block (to allow for the longer stroke, crank sits lower in the block then the 220,240,264.
As to can you fit it in a truck, with a truck type bellhouseing and clutch, I have no idea, and I think you would be off in "uncharted waters" to try.

Doesn't sound like a favorable choice,for a road vehicle.
