Why I haven't posted in a while

Well I bought a 84 F250 from my neighbor in November so it has been taking up my time. Its kind of a good thing because Im able to park the IH for the winter. Anyways a little info on the truck, its a 84 F250 with the 6.9idi backed by a C6 Auto. My neighbors father ordered it in the fall of 83, this thing was used to pull a 40ft Airstream camper around the states. It even has been to Alaska, TWICE! So needless to say the 6.9 was run hard. Even though it has a touch over 64k miles it isnt the healthiest engine. The main reason i bought it though was because of how good of shape it was in. It was only used in the summer and parked inside in the winter from new to about 91, from then on it got used as the farm parts runner which it then got used even less. Flash forward to 2010 or so, I started to help him on the farm and it became my work truck for running around the farm. This is when I fell in love with it and I wanted it bad! In 2014 I bought my IH so my IH became the farm runner because I wanted to drive it as much as I could. As of last year (2018) he deiced to retire farming, so I offered to purchase it. When he said how much he wanted for it I couldn't give him the money fast enough. I only had to give 1200 bucks for it! The frame on this thing has factory paint with the ID stickers still on it!
But if you know me, I cant leave things alone. Ive been daily driving it for awhile and the IDI needs to go, 9mpg is just horrible. SOOOO..... CUMMINS SWAP!!!
I bought a 12v Cummins with 173k for 1200$ and a parts 96 F350 5 speed Powerstroke 4x4 for 1600$. I pulled the transmission, front and rear axles and all the stuff to put all the stuff to put the axles and transmission in the 84. The axles I Scored big on they are 3.55 limited slip front and rear! the front axle alone is worth 1200 $ and the rear is worth 700$ and the transmission is worth 1200$. I parted the rest of the f350 out and made 1600$ after the cost of buying the parts truck! So i was able to pay for all of the Cummins swap parts and part of 12v cost. As for the cost of the 84, when I sell the IDI, C6, and rear axle that will pay for the truck. So I will have a total of 800$ to get it running and driving as a Fummins. The parts truck came with a nice set of rims that I will be using, after I get new 33's and paint the truck Ill have a total of 1600$ into the build.

Sound like a nice project. I like your creativity in parts swapping to get the finished truck you want.

Nice! I like that year body style for Ford and really like your budget on the project. So often these things turn into money pits so it's great to see you get so much for so little! One of my other old trucks is a 73 Ford F250 4X4 that I've owned for 25 years for me it's a keeper.
