OUR 38 FORD :)

As part of the K Series pickup bed/trailer deal I got a fairly decent 1938 Ford Sedan. Original blue paint and patina. Missing running gear. Needs everything done. It will NEVER be as nice as Nikki's 1940 Ford, though.
It has some rust below the trunk and one scrape on the body. The fenders have been "bumpered-carred" but look salvageable. Plenty of bumpers, runningboards, extra parts for a good start.
My family drove one of these once upon a time.
You can't say I don't have a sense of humor. :)

I can say, "You don't have a sense of humour", It may not be true, but I can say it.

Body looks pretty decent on it but are you sure that is not a 37? I have a 38 parts car and the back end is exactly the same as my 39. Trunk lid is completely level with the sloping roof line right from top to bottom.

Re: OUR 38 FORD :)

Hi, Mr. Goff!
I'm no Ford expert, for sure!
It's tagged as a 1938 which means very little...
I've been told that Ford had "standard" and "deluxe" versions of their cars during these years. A 1939 Ford Deluxe model might be identical to a 1940 Ford Standard model?
This explanation certainly makes dating a late 1930s Ford difficult?
I'm open to all ideas as to year. I'm thrilled with the car. I think it's in very good condition, overall.

Re: OUR 38 FORD :)

You are right, there are noticeable differences between standard and deluxe models in the same year. Both mine are deluxe. Apparently the standard models only had one tail light while deluxe had two. At least in 38-39.

Re: OUR 38 FORD :)

If you start restoring this car now you could be done and driving this 38 Ford quicker than the other 40 Ford on this site.

You are correct. I am holding back. My '40 may be running and maybe I have not posted the start and run on this forum. I may be waiting for my kissing cousin to visit.
The start and run may be appearing on You Tube in the near future. :moon1:

The kissing or the running? Or both? Maybe if the kissing is posted, you’ll be running! Stay tuned.
