Anyone familiar with Sasgen Derricks? A fancy name for a type of tow truck apparatus.
My friends have one in pieces. There is more than one type of Sasgen Derrick.
Anyone ever hear of or see one?

there is a guy on oldgmctrucks who is a big Holmes wrecker fan, he might know about these,

Nice 1940 J-15 Studebaker wrecker there,

my dream is a 1937 J-10 Studie pickup, looks just like K-15 except one ton, and a few accent bars on grill,

panel is a 37,

I know a guy who has/had a 37, but it looks like this 38, he won't sell it to me,

they eliminated the horizontal bars in 38, 36 had single ones, 37 had twin bars, but basically the same truck from 36-40

EDIT on previous post, that wrecker could be 1938-1940

The bottom Stude bed looks like the Mack ED bed? Sorta? No outside stake pockets..
Yes, you have good taste.
I've never, ever seen a Stude truck of that vintage in person. I MAY have seen WWII Stude stuff.
I nearly bought a '38 or '39 Studebaker sedan. I just thought it had too many doors.

I can't help but post pictures of the original Ironsides TV panel van.
BRJ's Stude panel reminded me of it.
I own the Ford "Tonner" pickup version of it.

In this day and age this looks staged or photoshopped. If it's real, it's just so cool!
If you look at the construction of the tilt bed, you can see so many modern simularities.
I'm in awe of the designer and fabricator of this pioneer tow truck!
And yes....I want it...probably have to build it. Holmes was just so ADVANCED.
I don't have anything this old. It would have to be at least a 1930 or so if I built it.
What do you think of this old roll-back tilt bed tow truck? :)
I just noticed it's a roadster convertible cab...sheesh! Over the top cool!
Probably Ernie Holmes himself standing next to it...?

:P iHere is the actual Sasgen Derrick in question. Doesn't look like much in pieces.
