Re: Cool Diamond T

If I built my own what gauge steel and how big of a sheetmetal brake would I need?
Sounds like a challenge...
I suspect $2000 if I have someone make one?
I only have about $1k into the Diamond T project right now...
Thank you for your advice.

Re: Cool Diamond T

this is the express bed that they used, I think it's wood framed metal wrapped, I knew a guy restoring one way back and I think that was what he said,

The Anthony bed has the squared top rail and a long wedge down back of box, 3 stake pockets, metal floor, tailgate is all 90% folds top and bottom, detail pics are hard to find

probably a 10 foot brake, I'll ask my buddy what gauge metal he used, this is his truck, he took a 406 2 ton and cut down frame, made the box, made rear fenders from fronts, he liked to longer nose of the big trucks,

Re: Cool Diamond T

I want to make a box for my big truck, I'll just have the metal bent at a shop, then build it myself, that's wht my buddy did, just drew up what he wanted, they cut and bent it up, he said it wasn't that much, but he's a wizz bodyman

Re: Cool Diamond T

Thanks, BRJ!
My Diamond T project comes with extra front fenders. Maybe I'll do what your friend did.
It's amazing how little old machine shop/ sheetmetal shop equipment is going for. Usually at about weight or a little more. I have passed on cheap sheetmetal brakes, before. Maybe it's time to bring home a brake. There's a huge old one left outside in my little town. Gotta go see!
Such an adventure these old trucks are!

While I'm at it I'll make a bed for the Mack?
Did I mention that my SISTER is a journeyman sheetmetal worker? :) She's amazing!
Here's a picture of her life-sized sheetmetal horse.
I'm sure she'd help me.
