Been working wood and copper smithing for a long while, keeps me busy and happy on my day off.
To some it may be just a pile of scraps and that is all well and good.
But as for me wood is good :)

This wooden tool chest I crafted from an old water tank a good friend gave me.
I modeled it for my Son after his grandfathers kennedy tool chest..
Redwood , purple heart and copper.

Just thought some craftsmen might be interested.

Gathered between silver forged letters
mounted on a Granite and copper frame base...

-------------------
Side note:
I perfected a known process to etch the copper to add lettering & patina .
Uses salt , standard black & white laser printer, with a touch of corn meal baked to a golden brown to
make dextrin.. The process involves baking and cooking the cornmeal to form a coating that is applied to
printer paper once dry you print the image or lettering to make a resist for the electro etching process.
Then Iron on the resist to the copper piece. Its take a while to get it just right , but worth it.
and the process is much more friendly to work with over harsh chemicals used with other methods.

The black laser ink is attached with heat to stick to the copper forming an insulator ( a resist ) the
etching process now eats away at the copper leaving raised letters that will buffed afterwards.

I aired up the 1940 Ford suspension and air tank then checked for evidence of rodents. A few tools got put away after they sat on the workbench for a year. One of my reclining shop chairs is out of a BMW 5 series. I tipped the BMW seat back and took a nap.
I took a good look over a Rockwell-Delta belt and disc grinder I picked up in White Rock. The question for me is, leave it three phase or change it over to 220V and add a mag switch.

Spent part of the day painting- I bought a steel cabinet and two Lista tool boxes at recent auctions. The cabinet is destined to be my welding table, and I had it stripped and de-rusted at a local shop. I bought a gallon of Sherwin Williams best Direct-to-Metal Alkalyd paint and covered it all up, inside and out. One of the tool cabinets was flat light green, so that is becoming industrial gray, as well, to match the other cabinet.

One everything dries really well, I can get to mounting the new Wilton vice to the welding cabinet and get it moved into place. Then the old welding table becomes home to a CL find Jet lathe. The smaller Lista will hold the lathe accessories in addition to all the machinist's tools I recently inherited from an Uncle.

I added an LED light to my walker. This makes a difference at night. The clamp is a Made-4-You. The light has good coverage and is very bright. 75521

Over dimensional lights for your walker? Do you have a red and white IIIIIIDIIIIII banner on it? Just an old truckers mind thinking again!
