I have yet to come up with a pleasing design for a mobile base. I want something that looks vintage appropriate and works with my inverted "fifth-wheel" transport handle. The base of the Sterling grinder is not square, but, more of a parrellegram with curves sides. I will go to The Metal Supermarket on Monday morning. I often get my better ideas when I am looking at a warehouse full of possibilities.
I am an old POS and I really put myself at risk of physical damage when I try to wrestle the 380+ pounds of grinder into submission.
I am expecting a package of replacement parts from Sterling/Macdonough in the mail tomorrow. Cross-border shopping combined with our Canadian dollar buying 0.76 USD can change affordable into "I think I will pass." for some persons.
A person in Michigan contacted me and offered his Lisle 91000 drill grinder. In a return email, I demonstrated how his price more than doubled, to me, with the exchange rate and freight added. When I bring something into Canada from the USA there is always the taxes. If the item or items are transitioning through the USA and not made in USA, there can be an added duty based on origin of content. Vehicles and electric tools may face an inspection.

Building the mobile base took about 6 hours because my son had a change of design. This required us to go to The Metal Supermarket and get more and heavier gauge angle iron.
Rather than build a more common square mobile base, we decided to make the base match the tapered lines of the Sterling base. Since we had to lift the Sterling and move it a few times. my son hooked up my crane scale between the grinder and the shop crane. It weighs 349.7 pounds of 168.6 kilograms. The grinder moves easily with one hand. I do not know where to park it. Maybe it is time for some more stuff to go onto Craigslist. This stuff does not include the STERLING.
I had to go to UPS to pickup my Sterling replacement parts. There were four little bits and the cost was about $40 USD. By the time the USD were converted to our Loonies, the added freight, Canadian taxes and the brokerage fees my costs had risen to $146. And to think someone suggested that "we" don't pay our way.

I measured up my KELLER power hack saw for a mobile base. This saw is very heavy and difficult to get a safe grip on any part of it.

Being able to move/maneuver those heavy pieces around to use and then put away is great! I have been in your shop, I know how "tight" it can get. I am sure it has changed since I was there. You do Great work Sir. Now off to tackle some of my mess, so that we can sell the place and all our accumulated "stuff".

My Dad used to say, "Tighter than a frog's a$$ in fly season." I have been slowly reducing the inventory with CL. There are lots of scammers riding CL and watching for opportunity. I will call you with the latest scam offer I received for my motorcycle.
I am making space, mostly by reorganization. I don't look at CL very often, now. I will wait until I make some space.

I finished the mobile base for my KELLER power hacksaw this afternoon. The base will get dark green paint sometime in the not too distant future.

My daughter came up with this step-back design for a mag-switch bracket. I want a mag-switch on this KELLER power hacksaw for safety. Final fitting will be tomorrow followed by a couple of test runs.
A quick Google search showed our local LOWES had the strain relief connectors I had been looking for. https://www.lowes.ca/conduit-fittings/c ... 92374.html
