It hasn't worked since the Reagan administration, and this time around with Trump corporations used the money they gained for stock buy backs not for investments into their operations that would have created more US jobs. It is a culture of power and greed in DC and as always the rich get richer and the working man and women takes it on the chin. Wages have stagnated since the 1970's while the cost of living has continued to rise. The american dream goes up in smoke and the middle class continues to shrink. Too many people now are working three minimum wage jobs barely getting by living pay check to pay check with 0 dollars in their savings. Tax cuts for the ultra rich just ain't fixing it, never has never will.

I am not a fan of trickle down economics but a more specious thing than even that is our fiat economy. It is difficult for any class other than the very rich to have any growth when our money is valueless. Wage stagnation and the loss of the middle class only began after the gold standard was abandoned and the minimum wage became the all important driving factor in our economy. Now our economy is essentially tied to the minimum and it has created wage stagnation. I haven't worked a minimum wage job since the mid-nineties and since that time I have seen the buying power of my dollar go down each and every time the minimum wage goes up. Why does this happen? Because the closest thing we have to a standard for our currency is an hour's labor as defined by the Federal minimum wage. This allows Congress to manipulate the economy and helps the wealthy by shrinking the differences between the poor and middle class and increasing the differences between the middle and upper classes. A Federal minimum wage with no standard for the currency only benefits the wealthy.

There are other driving forces at work besides what has been spoken of. An ever growing "handout" system for every imaginable reason. A flooded labor market. Gold Standard abandoned, a congress that really does not care about the country, only how to stay in their positions. It is a mess, all around, and it will not settle easily nor quickly. So far, it has been a good "discussion". I bet there is common ground somewhere.

Some great lyrics, if only ...

I'd start walking your way
You'd start walking mine
We'd meet in the middle
'Neath that old Georgia pine
We'd gain a lot of ground
'Cause we'd both give a little
And their ain't no road to long
When you meet in the middle

May you all be safe well and able , and keep on truck-in..
