The Real Deal

I'll take ONE REAL truck (not imagined or made from three other trucks) over a hundred posers, pretty or not.
Looks like a real Ford Bell Telephone truck from the 1940s. I want it.

Re: The Real Deal

It was why I snapped up my winch truck. The original owner transferred the title to his business in 1949, and I bought it from them in 2006, I got to see the original title. The truck was as it was put to work back in the day. It had seen hard use, and was last used by the previous owner in 2000.
Hard to find, in the same "work clothes" all these years later.

Re: The Real Deal

I don't have any, at least not in digital format that I can lay my hands on. The problem is: when I am useing it, I'm too greasy to handle a camera, and when it is back in the barn, I never think of it
Dean might have a pic when he came to collect the 282 I gave him.

That is my "42 in the backround and my '89 in front with the smoke. Must have been cold.

Found these on an old thumb card, they are from when I got it home.

Re: The Real Deal

The number stenciled on the door is the empty weight. About 3K heavier than the white '42 in the 2nd pic.

Re: The Real Deal

You guys can have the truck, I want the shops.
I would rather have tools I do not need than to need tools I do not have

Re: The Real Deal

Another real deal, in my opinion. Notice the stock 20" high clearance disk wheels (just like MY '40 D-2). This truck continues to be just the way it was made.

Re: The Real Deal

Those rims alone make it a rarity. Neat old truck.
