Along with my "Madge" (Mazda-Dodge), "Interbaker" (International-Studebaker) I'm now introducing a Mack-International hybrid project "Micky".
It's going to be my 1930s Mack ED tribute truck built on a shortened IHC C-30 Single Rear Wheel Chassis. Not a RARE chassis but certainly unusual. The cab from that C-30 will go on my C-1 project.
I recently obtained some Mack E-series sheetmetal. I purchased a Mack ED parts manual online about a day ago. I have a vintage Continental flathead six motor in an old forklift that will provide the power (and look correct).
By far the hardest thing to do I think will be to find an Mack E series grill and radiator.

Continental flathead sixes and fours have the distributor sticking right out of the head. Pretty easy to pick them out. At least SOME of the Mack EDs I've seen have Continental flathead sixes.

I suddenly feel like working on this stuff, again. The temp drop surely helps.
Today, I may extricate the Continental from the forklift or pull the "good" C30 frame out (it must've been rarely used good shackle pins, kingpins, etc).

I got this CLARK forklift because:
1) It's an oldie and cool.
2) I can use radiator, gas tank, other metal pieces on hot rod projects.
3) This Continental flathead six engine was used in LOTS of old vehicles.
4) It has gauges and knobs and other doodads I can use.

I have nothing but admiration for forklift mechanics. I spent all Sunday attempting to pull out the flathead six Continental out. I had to remove forklift hydraulics in order to gain access to engine bolts.
I think it's ready for a Monday night pull. Nasty, dirty, heavy work!
I also saved the military-style steering wheel, column and box.

I got the reproduction Mack ED parts catalog in the mail, today.
I'm enthralled! I've already learned that there were 17 inch and 20 inch cast spoke wheels available. And that there were two wheelbases, 120" and 136".
If I liked the two Mack websites more I'd post the entire 1939 Mack ED Parts catalog THERE! :)
In the meantime, here are some cool images from the catalog: $78 including postage.

I began typing seventy-year-old Mack part numbers into google and ebay and began getting hits!
No wonder having a parts manual for your old truck is so highly recommended.
Cap and rotor, for example are very common parts.
