Re: WHATS IN YOUR TOOL BOX?

This mornings local paper tells of a 26 yr. old being killed by a roll of cable being lifted by overhead hoist. One of the hooks into the coil also snagged the rack and pulled it all over on him and a coworker. The coworker survived with a shattered right kidney and will be undergoing surgery to repair or remove depending on what they find in surgery. The weight of all that came down was 12.5 tons.
L110 owner since 1974, finally rebuilt 2014.

DYNABRADE 18075

I do not need this tool right now, but the price was very right. I bought this tool on AMAZON with a one week free delivery. It was 1 of 1 left from this seller. The next best price happened to be local with a 5 week wait. After this the prices were scattered all the way up three times.
I will need this long neck cut off feature to ease the separating of the rear panels on my ORRVILLE crewcab. I will replace the damaged panels with twin window panels from in stock spare parts. I like the twindow look.
anytime is tool time, tool-time is always a good time

Re: WHATS IN YOUR TOOL BOX?

I could have joined the "club" for an extra $85 and had two day shipping. I opted for the regular shipping. My order was shipped two days ago after being held back for nearly a week. Either way two day shipping time is what I got.
I had just gone online to check the package tracking information when I was interrupted by a knock at the front door. What are the chances. It was Amazon PRIME with my DYNABRADE1507.
This tool appears to have been made in NY, USA. It is heavy and feels fantastic. I am going to try it tomorrow.

Please share your impressions after trying it out. I’ll be in the market for one of these for the bodywork on my BMWs. Lots of slicing and dicing required and some in not so easy to access places.

Re: WHATS IN YOUR TOOL BOX?

WOW! That is the way a cut-off tool should work. Big power, heavy enough to resist kicking and jamming and the exhaust is toward the back. The guard is adjustable through 345 degrees. The adjuster nut prevents the last 15 degrees of rotation.
One little addition I would like to make is an adjustable shoe, like a skill-saw, for better depth control on sheet metal. I just got an idea.
I wacked off a .750" DOM steel tube in about 25 seconds. Sheetmetal cuts like paper. I installed a Norton MEDALLION #89031 blade.
I tried a few awkward and difficult places to reach and there was no problem. I wish I had thought of this tool years ago. Even then. I had to shop for the best price. Amazon beat the local dealer by about $10, maybe, and then there was a 3++ week wait.
When I shopped Amazon, the prices were from a low of $256 cdn to about $1100 cdn.
Today, Amazon have an offering of $190 and Summit Racing is $205 USD, today.
Look out crewcab, here I come.

That’s about as glowing of a review as you an get. Guess I’ll start shopping.

Re: WHATS IN YOUR TOOL BOX?

I have two of those in line cut off tools. they get tons of use. one is reversible, which is a cool feature. Although I use the other one more as the guard is narrower and I can get into tighter places.

Re: WHATS IN YOUR TOOL BOX?

Some time ago I bought a stainless steel tool box for my office area. This lower 42 X 18 inch, 12 drawer roller cabinet is better suited to my need. (read that as want)
Coke Zero was on sale at the local market for less than COSTCO. My wife bought four cases for me. 49 cans just fit into the lower drawer.
That green hand cranked machine on the cabinet top is an antique BONANZA apple peeler.
I found the apple peeler and the stainless tool box on Craigslist.

Is this upstairs or in the basement? If Basement, You have made headway since I was there.
