ANOTHER FRIEND GONE

Olde English Version
No man is an Iland, intire of itselfe; every man
is a peece of the Continent, a part of the maine;
if a Clod bee washed away by the Sea, Europe
is the lesse, as well as if a Promontorie were, as
well as if a Manor of thy friends or of thine
owne were; any mans death diminishes me,
because I am involved in Mankinde;
And therefore never send to know for whom
the bell tolls; It tolls for thee.
JOHN DONNE
This is happening much too often. He was a younger man than I. Very suddenly and without warning he was felled by a stroke. **** cancer was in his brain. He was told that he was terminal. It was only a few days and my friend had passed into his eternity. It seems like the good ones go first. The celebration of his life is tomorrow. I seems like only yesterday we were here enjoying the Smorgasbord my wife had laid out.
It is difficult for his wife and dog. His dog has laid by the door, waiting.

The Bell Tolls for All. Celebrate his life well, remember him kindly, help the ones left. I am saddened.

Re: ANOTHER FRIEND GONE

We just lost a long time family friend last Sunday. I visited him in the hospital 2wks prior. Happy go lucky. Great conversations. Grandma called 2 days later. Massive stroke; couldn't speak. Managed to get back to see him 4 days later only hours before he passed.

I'm sorry for your loss.

Re: ANOTHER FRIEND GONE

I thank you.
The time here is 05:18h and I will be up in a few hours for another fun day in the shop.
I am forever thankful for the many good persons who made my life so much better and certainly more interesting. Yesterday, my long time friend of nearly 50 years, called from his cell. He was out on his motorcycle and had stopped for coffee. "Not too bad for 75", he said. Unfortunately, he has leukemia. He never complains about his situation. Our conversation has changed from the next big thing to remembering the good times.

Re: ANOTHER FRIEND GONE

Keep on Keeping on. Sorry to hear. Brought it home for me, when my Sister put off some pain in her back for three weeks, She finally decided to go in and DR had her in surgery about two days later, if she had been stubborn for longer, we would have been planning a funeral, instead, she is recovering nicely and faster than they thought.
Sadly I have also deleted some from my phone.

Re: ANOTHER FRIEND GONE

My 76 year old neighbour stopped by two days ago. H was dressed for church. He said he was on his way to a second funeral, that day. "I find going to funerals depressing" he said. He went on to ask if I had a suggestion. I told his that I don't go to funerals any more. The person who meant something to me is gone and not going to know I was absent. The most memorable funeral I attended was for a biker friend's mother. One of my biker friend's ex-girlfriends was needing a ride to her home about 10 blocks away. She jumped on the back of my Electroglide Classic HD and immediately stripped, naked. Well, she did had shoes on. I took her directly to her condo and let her off in the underground parking. That picture remains burned into my memory.
My last aunt from my parents generation was laid to rest this last weekend. She was just short of 100, I did not attend because of the 4 1/2 hour drive each way. The remaining relatives are a bunch of religious nuts and I cannot see spending an afternoon with that lot. I have the fondest memories of my aunt. Attending her COL with a bunch of crazies was not on my bucket list.
