One of my favorites, for sure. I would never walk away from a GUINNESS or KILKENNY. Granville Island make some very acceptable "medicine".

Re: Half a glass of Scotch later...

It is a very sad day in our home, today. Dasey, the best dog we have ever known stopped breathing in the night and slipped away and out of our lives. Dasey trained us well and she will be missed. She was so easy to love and she responded in kind.

Very sorry to hear that. Take some time to grieve, it is such a loss. When you are ready, open your heart to another animal, they will repay you every day.

Thank you for understanding. I may not respond to this subject for a while.

So sorry Brian, especially after the up and down past couple of weeks. Our prayers go out to you and your family.

You gave her a good life Brian, that's what matters,

our old rescue dog is getting pretty slow, he's on his last run probably,

they go too soon.

Sorry to hear about your lose, Brian. They are gone all too soon. We'll keep your family and Dasey in our prayers. Have a scoop of ice cream and a piece of pie in Dasey's memory.

Re: Half a glass of Scotch later...

Thank You to those who offered kind words. It is very much appreciated.
I am reminded of Fredrick the Great of Prussia, (1712-1786) He was a lover of animals and was particularly devoted to his Greyhound Biche, He wrote of almost feeling ashamed that a dog could so deeply affect his soul when she died. He wrote that it was his belief that anyone capable of indifference toward an animal is unable to be grateful towards an equal.
Friederich der Grosse was a great and intelligent leader. He changed Prussia into a modernized state. His place in history is a good read.

I had to put down Jazz my Ibizan hound today. He was a rescue and the third Ibizan I had. Horrendous food thief,,nothing safe. He could open doors whether round knobs or lever type. Chewing open a can of sardines was not beyond his scope or chowing down a stolen loaf of fresh bread or a bag of plums. Don't let those innocent eyes fool you. Today his 12 years caught up, I noticed his lymph nodes had swollen and it was time

I'm sorry, you had a good 12 years, but time can never be measured among true friends. It hurts no matter how short or long.
