You have our family's sympathies. We really miss our Daisy.

Re: Half a glass of Scotch later...

My heart goes out to you. We are facing the same nightmare so very soon. Our ole boy of 15 is just now starting to struggle to get up and down the stairs. We found lumps under his legs last week. He is so very close to suffering and we will not let that happen, no matter how painful it is on us. He has been the very best one we have ever had out of the 5 or 6 in our lifetime. It is almost bringing a tear to my eye just writing this and thinking of what you just went thru and what we will face soon. How do we get so attached to our animals?????? They are truly loved like our children.
Just think of all the good times...............

Well, lets see, Pets need help for a very few weeks to learn not stain the carpet, kids, a few years, Dogs will not crash you car, or demand money. They are content to eat the same thing every day and are happy to see it! If you are haveing a bad day/week/or month, they still love you. They will cheer you up when you are down. The only price of this is they ask you to help when the time comes. It is a hard price, but a real bargin. I have never been able to help at the end with a dry eye, but am honored to be a friend to such animals.

Jazz had the lumps at rear of hind legs. It was lymphoma. Keep an eye on belly for signs of internal bleeding. It will look like bruising. The day Jazz would not climb the stairs to my deck we knew it was time. What looked like a series of small pea size bruises the day before had become one large "bruise" Your pet is fortunate that he will not suffer when his time comes.

I can't really add to what has been said by all here except be thankful for the pleasure your friend has given you these past years, I'm sure he was because all relationships are two-way streets.

they go too soon.

Well, he went faster than I feared, we lost our second rescue dog, we had him for 13yrs. it was a tough one to go thru,

Sorry to hear that, esp at this time of year. I lost Jesse on Thanksgiving day a few years ago. Had a good vet that came in to help on that day, still miss him.
