Re: SECOND HAND STORE FIND

The pinstripe tool on eBay is $25± and is a KLEEN LINE and was sold by SEARS in the '50s and '60s. It is the same as the EMBEE. If our Canadian dollar wasn't so low, I would "buy it now". I made a few calls yesterday and there are a few available locally for less $$$. The price for 1SHOT paint varies by as much as $5 for a half pint.

Re: SECOND HAND STORE FIND

I've thought many times about getting various types of equipment - like pin striping tools and others - but came to the conclusion that if I'm not going to use it more than once or twice, why waste the money. If I was certain that I'd get more usage than just a couple of times, then I might be tempted to make the purchase. My son had wanted me to get a bead roller, a bending brake, and other types of machines and equipment, but it just doesn't make sense to own equipment, especially expensive, dedicated types of machines, just for the sake of having equipment. For those who will get many uses out of equipment, it makes perfect sense to have it. My workshop has precious little space now. To bring in more equipment means rearranging everything and it'll have to justify the expense to make a purchase. I'll use the $$$ to by gas to drive around with!

I think I see the problem! You need to build a bigger shop.

This is a door that my son presented to Dad for Christmas.

A good mate of mine did the sign writing line work and scrolls they are all done by hand with a brush.

Re: SECOND HAND STORE FIND

My daughter was looking at the pin strip tools and she came up with an idea where she integrate some of it into her business. She makes and sells U-ASSEMBLE-KITS to the lesser skilled persons. They get a moment of joy, if they don't hit their fingers with a hammer, and they have something for the back yard and nature. This is right up there with hugging a tree.

I never offered much resistance to the siren's call to buy more tools and just about anything else mechanical. For me, it was and continues to be a part of my life in the shop. I am in the process of reclaiming floor space, in the shop, AGAIN!
The Ford fits with a little room to spare, this cannot be said about the longer L110 Shorty. The front bumper fits against the back door and the rear bumper is close to the work-bench. If we ever get the chance to start the ORRVILLE CREWCAB with an eight foot box, and do it inside, some things have to go. So, it is time to kick a stuff out for someone else to enjoy.
http://youtu.be/87WuczmOI6s We have more than 5 of these IH tachometers and enough parts to make 2 to 3 IH pickups, all inside and in reasonable order and mostly inventoried. I don't know where the list is. LOL

PS: I think I might just have enough floor space for a GORTON PANTOGRAPH engraving machine. If we ever find one close enough it will have a bunch of jobs waiting for it.

I think Brian's the one that needs and new and bigger shop. Then we can all watch and see how long it takes him to run out of space. LOL

Repurposed Monitor Arm:
These monitor arms are anything from free to as much as $20. I like them mounted to or near a drillpress where the monitor tray can hold drillbits, chuck keys and fits a laptop nicely.
The control/support arms have been shortened to fit the available space, better.
