Re: OUR 40 FORD

I wonder if the "different" sound of the Flattie might have something to do with the ZUNDFOLGE.
The car is going back together really well and so far there has only been one "hang-up". We had to lower the AC .75" to clear another component. This minor change is not visible.
My wife has given me a target date of August 27. We might just make it.
The Walker radiator gets installed tomorrow. Every time that I pick this monster up, I wonder if an aluminium replacement might have been a bit lighter and a good idea. I must make four custom studs for the left head. None of the new studs are close to stock lengths. All 48, 7/16" studs were cut to length and had the threads cut on the lather. The block end is 7/16" by 14 tpi and the outside end is 7/16" by 20 tpi. I was able to buy ground stainless rod with similar specifications to the original studs. With so many studs, I had to make a stud map.
Today started with taking a SAGINAW tilt steering column apart and sand blasting the outer housing and the seat adapters then driving them and two boxes of interior trim to the body shop, 90 minutes east of here. After leaving the body shop, I continued east to MERRITT to visit and buy some Binder Bits. There was no lady with a camera this time, but I was served a Buffalo Burger and a Diet 7up. I like MERRITT, BC. It is a nice relaxed place without the rush of traffic we suffer here.

Re: OUR 40 FORD

I am back to waiting for painted parts and carpet to arrive. There are 44 pieces in for paint. The painted bits and the carpet will all arrive at the same time.
I fitted the radiator and the inner fender cross support. The ordered dome light came I today. Touch on and touch off. It is CNC brushed aluminium.

Re: OUR 40 FORD

Wow you didn't leave much room in the front, hope you never have to change a belt on the side of the road.

I see you like your women caged. Lol

Those lights are real nice.

Re: OUR 40 FORD

The belts are serpentine and do change fairly easily because the belts are thin and can be twisted. The engine and the radiator are in the OEM positions and the closest near miss is 1cm.

Tomorrow, I want to change the design of the air filter base adapter for a closer and tighter fit to the throttle body.
I have the adapters to change from Ford to DELPHI For the throttle position sensor and the idle air control motor. I hope to get these installed tomorrow, also.

Re: OUR 40 FORD

The dome light looks absolutely fantastic, but the attaching screws do not line up, in fact with the light centered on the bezel the holes are a centimeter off on each way. NO, I am not returning the light because I cam move the holes to fit. I'll mark the light with transfer screws then drill new holes. I did take pictures and forward them to SMART PARTS and the restoration parts seller.I did ask for a partial refund. I am not holding my breath while waiting for that to happen.

Re: OUR 40 FORD

Moving on with the project piece by piece. Today's task was refitting the lid for the boot tool box. The lid covers the air compressor and related stuff.
I am leaving for Merritt before 6am to pick up a 100 year old drill press that I bought from MAGIHC MIKE. On the return trip I will stop at the bodyshop to pick up the boxes of FORD parts. The body and paint guy suggested that there must be over 100 pieces, but, he got a different number each time he counted.

Re: OUR 40 FORD

Re the female person on the cage : I have several of these "cages". They are on four casters, totally galvanized and very heavy duty. There were about 100 of them made available when an ice-cream factory closed. My friend gave me three of them for my helping him with various tasks. I only got two before he died.
I was given some plastic sheets and there was some advertising on one side. I very carefully cut out the interesting bits. In the context of the advert, no big deal, but out of context, thought provoking to say the least. The Pastor neighbour refuses to enter the shop and he has boldly given his reasons, so you see, they work at several levels, with repellent being one.
