Re: OUR 40 FORD

I should have unpacked all of the painted pieces yesterday, but................. So it was unpacking time today. I don't think there are as many pieces as the body and paint guy thought, but my list shows everything is here. I decided to mount the EFI on the coil cover and I rather like it. There is another EFI for a handle on the battery box cover. I am going to fit some of the pieces tomorrow, after visiting family leaves.

Re: OUR 40 FORD

A few of the painted pieces were installed on the Ford today. Just pictures and no explanation. CB89, do you recognise the round button for the intercooler duct support? This is a nonstandard use.

Nice decking. Very smooth. You must have all of the wrinkles out. Do you think that the "hard wood " is the attraction? Wink, wink, nudge, nudge, you know what I mean ;-}>

Re: OUR 40 FORD

There are 1/2 dozen or more cab mounts, suspension equalizer bushing and other uses that look like that, so I will not hazard a guess. Just look thru an Atro bushing catalog if you need some ideas.
The aftercooler mounts on my Marmon are a ThermoKing part, and that is from the factory, not what I used when I couldn't find the orignal.

Re: OUR 40 FORD

There is always a piece or two that escapes and then shows up unpainted. Well, aft the roasting I took for most of the black painted pieces, I asked my son to give it his best shot and try the TREMCLAD/RUSTOLEUM rattle can. He carefully cleaned the parts and blew them in outside, between the house and shop. In an hour or two the parts were dry to the touch and every bit as nice as anything I had professionally painted for the price of 250 - 300 rattle cans. Another expensive lesson.
TILT, TURN AND TOOT
I was assembling SAGINAW tilt steering columns today while my son installed the heat and sound insulation on the inside of the Ford. He did a great job. I all but forgot the procedure and had to go with the detailed instructions.
BTW:. the intercooler buttons are Silver 92 valve cover seals

Re: OUR 40 FORD

I finished the SAGINAW tilt steering column today. It is ready to be installed. The signal lever is from WATSONS STREET WORKS and it has an internal micro-switch that operates a relay for the high and low headlights. As soon as I find the WATSON STREET WORKS tilt control lever I, it will get installed. The tilt lever has another micro-switch and this one, with a relay, will control the power supply to an over-drive. I made a set of "little piston knobs" for the levers and will only use the shift lever knob, now.
The steering wheel is from LeCarra and it is a MARK 40. It is about 2 inches smaller diameter than the original Ford wheel. http://www.lecarra.com

Re: OUR 40 FORD

What is a 1940 Ford without a third brake light. The left and right side of the light are powered separately and are activated by the turn/brake signals. The LED third brake light is from WATSONS STREET WORKS. http://www.watsons-streetworks.com

Re: OUR 40 FORD

Wonder if that third brake light is wide enough to work on the L and R models split windows?
