Re: MY GOOD FRIEND DIED TODAY.

This guy lived in the next block and he was a good neighbor and friend. He was also my Foreman where I worked. He was an all-round good guy.
After he retired he moved out of the neighborhood and set up home and shop in a coastal community about three hours from here where continued to be a hot-rodder and all around car guy.
While at coffee with the retired guys, this morning, I was told my ex-neighbor had died last Friday. He was born in 1951, making him 6 years younger than I.
This getting older is a poor reward for a life well wasted.
While I feel some sadness for the loss of someone I knew and liked, I am not about to panic and change anything in my daily routine.

Have to admit that it was a bit disturbing when I first started seeing obits for people my age and younger. But as an old neighbour used to say, I hate getting old but I don't like the alternative either".

Sorry for your loss Nikki, it is never an easy thing to lose a friend. I am a bit on the young side (37) to have folks my aging starting to die off but I do remember about a decade ago a good friend of mine from high school died in his sleep. To say that it was a shock is an understatement, it turns out he had congenital heart defects and no one knew. Momento Mori.

Re: MY GOOD FRIEND DIED TODAY.

Seems events can mark time. I'm going to a 40th high school reunion tomorrow. Yep, class of '78. I graduated from a smaller, mostly rural school. Of the 25 people in my graduating class, most of us are still around, but one died in a car wreck and two have ended their own lives.
