Re: HAMB PIX AND HAMB TURMOIL

When i get home tonight i will snap a few pictures so that you can look at what I've done. Sure sounds like they way i have it. i even had the resistor in there at one point because it comes in the pigtail kit (Accel maybe... got it from Summit or Jegs).
Has me baffled. i do electrical controls work for a living and you would think that this should be childs play. Maybe I am not a child like my wife insists.

Re: HAMB PIX AND HAMB TURMOIL

Nice " marriage is wonderful" jab.
I like that.
At work I'm always in a hurry so I do this:
With a common automotive test light grounded to bty neg--
1) first touch bty pos--does light in tester come on? Hey! The tester works today!
2) touch to alt big output term--should be bright bulb like you saw when you touched bat pos.
OK? Move on. Not OK disc/ burned output wire, fuse, fusible link...bad bty cable pos pigtail
3) with engine running should be power on BOTH wires to integral reg.
4) However, should be DIM bulb on " idiot light" ckt Not NO bulb--dim bulb.
These are VERY quick checks that REALLY help on a production vehicle charging system diagnosis.
They assume a few things. Take into account the modifications in your hot rodded vehicle.

I don't agree with the garish colors.
But here's a wiring pic.
Notice that integral reg terminal closest to output term is the idiot light wire.

Re: HAMB PIX AND HAMB TURMOIL

Ok pretty sure its a CS type. i guess i just need to check the wiring one more time but pretty sure I have tried every combination. I have attached some pictures. Don't think they help much. I tihnk i need to take the tape off and show some individual wires for clarity.

Re: HAMB PIX AND HAMB TURMOIL

So with key on, should have power on all three wires. Disconnect connector one wire should be full power the other one " dim bulb" when tested with a common circuit tester. ( unpowered pointy tester with bulb inside).
Is that what you have?

Re: HAMB PIX AND HAMB TURMOIL

I will have to check that when i get home. Hopefully the tester isn't too buried in the stuff for the move.

Yep,,no shortage of prima donnas over there when it comes to opinions. However the site is a good alternative source of technical information,,paint, bodywork etc. Some of those guys are quite the artisans when it comes to shaping a flat piece of tin into a fender or whatever. I am currently considering purchasing another project from a Hamb member and by reading a few of his posts I get a very good insight into who I am dealing with...
