After a long dry spell we got rain, and I mean rain. It has been raining for most of the night and we may have rain all day.
My wife and daughter have been keeping the garden alive with a minimum amount of watering. This rain has had an instant freshening on the plants.
My youngest brother is visiting from Toronto. I have not seen him in nearly 10 years. He is staying in a 100+ year old hotel facing the ocean. Brother will be here tomorrow. We are having grilled salmon and a Cobs salad followed by rhubarb crisp. We have fresh nugget potatoes from our garden. The potatoes will be steamed and lightly tossed in a garlic scape, basil and olive oil. We are having fresh cherry tomatoes from the garden. My wife will serve some of her collectable wines from our cellar.
We store our wine in hexagonal Terracotta clay pipes which I stacked up in rows separated by soft pine strips. 161851

The provincial health service reports that up to and 100% of those in ICU for covid19 have not been vaccinated. My sister and her husband have chosen to not get vaccinated for their religious reasons. She has destroyed her family over this by declaring her kids who chose to get vaccinated as poisoned. The damage done by her will never be healed.
As Stephen Colbert says, "MEANWHILE". Another extended family member has been air ambulance sent to a local hospital where he remains on a respirator with only a few percent chance of surviving covid19 He chose to not have the vaccinations. He will be leaving behind his wife and two teenage daughters.
I do not have a problem with persons exercising what they think are their personal rights, but, when there choice puts them in ICU and uses the hospital recourses that could and should be available to other persons needing life saving attention, this is where I have a problem accepting "person rights". I think we are coming to a break point where those persons who option against the vaccine and get covid19 must be told to go and "pound sand".
Covid19 is easily transmitted and C19 does not respect age or good health or religious conviction.
It is a Canadian pastime to point finger south and say, "look at them". Here in Canada there is a growing mob of anti-vaxxers and anti-maskers. There is a gathering protest against a provincial vaccination passport for those who made the choice to get vaccinated. I have my passport. I will need it to go to a restaurant, without the passport, I could be restricted to take-out, delivery or the drive-thru.

I saw the red IH box truck in the NYC photo. Interestingly, the only time I’ve been to NYC was in the summer of ‘66. Our HS band was picked as one of two bands from each state to March in the Lions Club International parade. The parade was 5 miles long and as a member of the drum line, we were expected to beat the heck out of our drums for the full 5 miles. Fortunately, I had been a Boy Scout and was used to carrying a heavy load on 5 mile hikes and as a paperboy I carried a paper sack for my 7 mile route. Most of the band members were fairly used up at the end. I don’t remember much about NYC other than a trip on the subway and a day trip out to Coney Island. I do remember it was a lot grittier place then than it appears on TV today.

To these old eyes, that appears to be a ‘53 or ‘54 Ford. But, at any rate, an interesting looking vehicle.
(The logo at the rear of the hood, louvers on the cowling, and the contour of the front fender to me looks Fordish)
