Smoke is clearing some in my area but Many folks are hurting and will be for a long while
if not for the balance of their lives.

If your able support your local EMS and Red Cross services , they are doing so much to help.

My wife went on a wine tour of our Okanagan here in British Columbia. beside the hundred or so bottles of special wine, she bought and brought a 50 pound bag of Mackintosh apples. Today my wife made the second of two excellent apple pies. I pared and sliced 50 pounds of apples and reduced them to apple sauce. We like to make Danish Apple Cake. Google for the recipe.
I have, for years, been talking about buying a really big LODGE frying pan. My daughter surprised we with an early b'day gift. It is a 15 inch Lodge frying pan. My first thought was, " Alien Space craft." It sat on the stove and cover two burners on one side. The big pan is in the oven finishing off our seasoning. I want this really big pan for making corn bread, AKA Johnny Cake. Google for this recipe.
I like to preheat the pan in the oven to about 375F, pour in the cornbread batter then return the pan to the oven to finish the baking.

I had a very good experience today.
My 2002 Cummins powered Ram 2500 lost heat to the cabin and the engine temperature started to rise. There was a major coolant leak. My first repair shop diagnosis was the heater core and blend door motor and this would cost nearly $2000. I called a mechanic friend and asked his for his recommendation. He was too busy to help me , this week. I took my truck to a small shop, he recommended. This shop replaced the leaking water pump and all of the problems went away. The coolant was replaced and the bill was $250.
There are good and honest shops out there.

Good to hear Nikki, it's good that it was an easy fix and you were able to find an honest shop.

My wife is making cinnamon buns/rolls today. Following the cinnamon buns and since the oven is on and hot, she is making roast beef with all of the "fixins" .
The local garden shop was giving end of the season tomato starter plants away. Some of the plants looked like they had hours to live. My daughter took them all while my wife did not like the idea. Well, the tomato plants got transplanted into our garden. Over night, every plant came back to life and we have hundreds of tomatoes, now. I like to eat a garden fresh tomato any time.
The pumpkins are doing really well because they do not know they are destined for pie-filling. We ordered our free-range thanksgiving turkey yesterday. This turkey is raised locally. I cannot eat "imported" turkey. There is something added to the feed to promote growth that sends me to the hospital with compromised breathing.
The weather was so dry, this summer, and we are not allowed to water the lawn, the lawn was mowed two times all summer, mostly to bag the dandelions before they went to seed.
