Re: Virtual Front Porch

I went to the local Harley Davidson dealer today to take advantage of their spring sale on Motor Clothing. I need a 5X in a shirt. One man's 5X shirt is another guy's drapes. There will be more shirts on the spring sale rack next week. I did get one HD "T".
On the way home I passed the Ocean View Cemetery. There was a large banner on the main gate, "OPEN HOUSE" I thought it might be more appropriate to have a DO NOT DISTURB BANNER.

Re: Virtual Front Porch

I don't go to Tim Hortons very often. Today was the exception because they have half price on their breakfast. This is a fast food drive through restaurant and they are out of ketchup. WTF?
MCDONALDS is a 100 yards away and Mcdonalds are matching the half price deal and McDonalds have ketchup. :biggrowl:

GASOLINE PRICE
Regular fuel gasoline price is $1.72 per liter today. This is about $6.50 a US gallon. Fuel price is just about the top news story here. Diesel is much less.
My last Diesel fill up for my Dodge Diesel was $128. The tank had about 1/3 fuel left. We buy our fuel at PETROCAN the government owned station. I get five cents a liter refund on my bank card.

Re: Virtual Front Porch

In Lincoln City Oregon, Biodiesel is 2.89 per gal, to fill my truck will take about $87 dollars. Other stations with Non-Bio diesel are at 3.15 per gal, so $95 to fill up. Not sure if the "savings" is worth the lower mpg, I think they will equal out in the long run, especially because I seen to get lower MPG at this low elevation as compared to the higher elevation I normally drive in. I do not envy the higher costs you pay up North. Will have to come visit another time, still have not found my Passport, and currently have no where to "store" lead throwers. Not even sure where I could park this 40' monster Fifth wheel.

Wow. I was going to complain about our gas prices getting up to $2.47 US.

Robert KB48
The phone rang and the call display said WASHINGTON. It was RobertKB48. It was good to hear his voice. He is in good spirits and cheerful. He is having a new accessible house built for himself on the coast. His Doctor and some specialists have him on a pain management system that really works. He told me he had some surgery last year and it is all good, now.
For those who may not know, Robert was the victim of a failed floor jack that caused a pickup truck to fall on him. Rob was crushed.
The lesson here is to not buy and use cheap tools and always use axle stands.
I did ask Robert for his permission to post this information and he said, "yes."

Thank you for the Update. I am extremely happy to hear that he is still with us and that he is in better shape than when I last heard from him.

Re: Virtual Front Porch

Thank you for reporting about Robert. I’ve been wondering about him. If this forum ever creates a Hall of Fame, I’d nominate him in an instant. He probably knows more about Ks and KBs than anyone at International - all from experience. Like many other members of this forum, I visited the forum for many years before I signed-in for the first time. Robert was truly the “go-to” guy when someone questioned how to do something or what parts worked best when it related to a K or KB. I, also, am glad he’s well and recovering from those injuries. Here’s to you Robert!

Re: Virtual Front Porch

My son had his Diesel Jeep in the dealer for new fuel injectors. One was leaking into a cylinder and making smoke. The tech changed all six injectors because several others were suspect.
While the Jeep was at the dealer they did a complete filter change and oil change. Part of the service is to do a tire rotation and complete vacuum and wash of the Jeep. This was 10 days ago.
My son works the night shift. He was on his way home at 05:30h today when he suddenly heard a clicking noise. He stopped to investigate and saw nothing. As he drove the click became louder. At two blocks from home the click became a clunking slow vibration. He stopped to have another look, about 100 meters from home. This time one of the LF wheel nuts was missing. The other 4 were loose and he could turn them with his fingers. This could have developed into a serious situation. There was a PM rush-hour fatality not so long ago. A car lost a front wheel at highway speed. My son was on a 50 kmh surface street.
My son called the service manager at the dealer. The service manager dispatched a roll-deck tow-truck to bring the Jeep to the shop. The tow driver got several turns on each wheel nut before he loaded the Jeep. The other three sets of wheel nuts were tight.

Re: Virtual Front Porch

Glad that he did not have an accident, seems someone was asleep at their job. Hope that they replace all studs on that drum, lots of stress on them.
