Re: Virtual Front Porch

I was first introduced to this wonderful voice in 1967 in Calgary. She was often featured on a radio show called Cafe' Continental.

Another voice that I enjoy is, https://youtu.be/BBr8yuoLDLg I got to meet and talk to Ivan Rebroff at his concert in Vancouver at the Queen Elizabeth Theater. At intermission, he called me out of the audience. Ivan Rebroff was two meters tall and we looked eye to eye. 138434

Re: Virtual Front Porch

I need my Ram 2500 to be reliable. I cannot do the heavy-duty repairs anymore. There is no room in the shop and the shop apron next to lane is much too steep to be safe. I dropped my truck off at a local trusted auto repair shop. The short list of what I want and need is, 4 new rotors, 4 new calipers, new power steering hoses, AC charge, New serpentine belt, replace rear spring "U" bolts and a few other miscellaneous bits. The shop called this morning and suggested the bill has topped $4900. This is much less than replacing the truck with minimum of $50k. I like the Dodge Ram Cummins combination. It fits me and I paid cash for it when I bought it. The Ram is a 2002 and has gone 300,000km.

Re: Virtual Front Porch

It makes sense, that if the vehicle works for you to spend the money to keep it in good shape, rather than spend 10 times as much. I am with you on that. it is my plan on my 06 GMC when I get the property sold.

Re: Virtual Front Porch

For no other reason than childish curiosity, I had a look at a new Ram 1500-4X4. It was over $80,000. I do not think of myself as a Luddite. AKA a person opposed to new technology or ways of working. But, I am not feeling confident with all of the electronics in this new Ram. Example: I do not need an electronic parking brake setting system. I am okay with a lever.
My Ram 2500 has the scars of lots of daily use. Another scratch will not make any difference to me, now. That first scratch on an $80k Ram could really be upsetting.
The 24 valve Cummins in my 19 year old Ram gets great fuel economy and has lots of power. I just got my insurance for the next year. It has gone down over $700 because of less use and not having a collision.
Now, what can I buy with that extra money. I am going on Craigslist, now.
