Re: OUR 40 FORD

We had an earlier start and earlier finish, just ahead of the afternoon heat.
Today, we got most of the TEC3r sensors installed and brackets made for two other sensors that do not direct fit to the manifold. The MAP sensor is in place in a less obvious location and plumbed in. With few options left, I milled out another adapter to hold the MAT in place. The adapter holds and compresses an "O" ring against the charge-ait duct. Two 10-32 machine screws will hold the adapter in place.
While I had the box of TEC3r stuff out, I installed the two sensors in the converted MALLORY DUAL-POINT distributor. In DDEC terms, the two sensors are SRS and TRS. One sensor detects TDC on #1, power stroke and the chisel point sensor tells the computer the crankshaft position in over 160 positions.
The parts drawers are starting so show a little "bare bottom". We could have "fire-in-the-holes" in a fortnight. Excited? Not me!
Tomorrow it is thermostats time, Flathead V8s have two.

Re: OUR 40 FORD

We were busy all day. The most obvious change is the bracket I made. It holds the SMART PARTS dome light. It felt good to dust off some of the old sheet-metal trade tricks.
The reverse camera is installed and tested. That was easy.

Wish I'd thought of that before I had a headliner installed!!!!  I had to devise interior lighting on the console I built.

Re: OUR 40 FORD

The OEM cab corner lights are not too bad. I glass beaded the inside of the lens for that opaque finish and softened the light. We will be installing a second OEM cab corner light in the next IHC project.
These SMART PARTS lights need about 19 millimeters of back space for flush mounting. Your consul idea may be something we use. I like it.

Re: OUR 40 FORD

A picture or two of your consul would be nice to see.
Our drive to the finish goes on. I really under estimated the assembly time. More than a few changes and the details have advanced the finish date.
It is all good and we are still enjoying working together after all these years.

Re: OUR 40 FORD

Until I can snap off a couple more pics, this is the only one I could locate already existing.
The section that is the arm rest is a console insert for a Suzuki car - unknown model - I ordered off Amazon Auto Parts. It was narrow enough to fit between the seats. I had the arm rest upholstered to match the rest of the interior. The plastic lower part was painted with Rustoleum. The insert is plenty deep and holds a fair amount of junk. The part of the console below the insert is made out of metal (upholstered) and flows down to sweep out to the cup holders. The cup holders started life as sections of 3" pipe and the upholstery was formed to go down in them. If I had it to do over, I'd try to locate the stainless steel cup holders that would fit down inside holes made to receive them. Just below the arm rest, (out of sight in this pic) is a small rocker switch to turn on two surface mount LED lights (from Amazon) that are mounted on the face of the cup holder section (again out of sight). The two lights are directed to each side to illuminate the floor areas. It's not an elaborate set-up, but gets the job done. It is simple just like the interior of the truck. As yet, it is just sitting between the seats and not anchored down. So far, no problems with that.

Clean and classy. No wonder you were asked to participate at the Gatornationals. Sweet.
