brakes

Still working on the brakes on the ol "L-185".
Replaced the copper lines and rubber hoses. replaced master cylinder and fixed the air assist. Now to the brakes them selves.

I finally got the drum off of the rear driver side. the drum has radial cracks in it on the inner surface that the shoes press against. Pictures to come. It also says Budd 63652 on the drum. Some websites say that it is obsolete.

the book says that the wheel cylinders are 75 586 r93. Some of them leak real bad.

Any thoughts on all these parts?
Help! I'm stuck in the garage and I can't seem to pull myself out.

Nothing better than a nap on the creeper under the old truck.

Re: brakes

put your part number in google search, take out all the spaces 75586r93 (https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=75586r93) check on the different sites listed, lots of possibilities for old military stock, and quite a few of these places sell directly to the public.

Re: brakes

Bryce, I googled the IH part cylinder number and there was a thread on this forum back in Oct. 2013 which mentioned WC15315 as a replacement. I can't get that thread to come up now on the forum. If you can find a Napa store that still has the old parts books, they can look them up and probably have them.

Edit: Rockauto $52.00 WC15315

Re: brakes

All right guys. I have had a lot of fun looking these things up.

75 586 r93 is: Raebestos wc15315, Wagner 9566 rebuild kit up195 (napa), wc 19381(Oreilly auto).

The radial "HEAT" cracks are common on the big trucks. They cant be too deep or more than 2" long.
