That shade was what Pappy and Granddad called #10 Dark Green. The name changed a few times, but #10 Dark Green got you the properly mixed color at the paint shop.

Try Googling for the colour. Some of the automotive paint suppliers may have the formula. In the USA you could try tractor supply and in Canada try Princess Auto for some agriculture colours.

These guys are very good. They'll mix whatever type paint you want (unless you live in California) and ship it to you.

In 1949 as the L series was coming out, IH started naming there paint colours by adding a specific name for each colour. Appears before that each paint code was just a number & colour. #4 is Door County Green was an optional colour, #10 is Adirondack Green was a std colour. By 1954 Door County Green was dropped image it was too flashy for the time period. The picture that the link goes to belongs to George Kirkham of Lethbridge Ab, there family has been selling IH trucks for long time. He has likely 100 plus restore IH vehicles. I been to his IH dealership & his private shop where they are sitting. Its an amazing place of IH history. The truck use to belong to friend of my name Ron, he sold to George couple yrs ago. The other link is to paint codes. Wish I knew how to add pictures without links as photobucket is :t0174: .

I like that color! I do not know if the archives at Wisconsin would have the color code in a paint committee decision, but worth a look maybe. If there is a part that is removable and has original color (not faded) perhaps a paint shop could spectral analyze it to come up with a match. If a person could get an original paint chip chart for them to analyze?
