The member in this link made a new tank work without to much trouble. Sounds pretty straight foreword.

I have a good gas tank fresh out of my 53 R112 it is in good shape, no leaks but I do not know if guel gauge was bad or if it was the sending unit. I would sell it for $50.00 you pay shipping or pick up near Joliet Illinois

I drove this truck everyday up to December 2015 I have lots of pictures of the whole chassis and tank

Thanks KS for posting this information.
I have their HDS Polyethylene tank in our non IHC. I like the quality and prospect of a longer service life.
I am going to measure one of our more than 5 good tanks, later today.

at the Big Truck shop "I" used to see a lot of Hot Rodders using Aluminum Beer barrel Fuel tanks--they were mounted in their trucks Beds--Polished Up--I Dono? how many GALs they held?--Jim-- :h21014:

Held about 15 gallons if I recall correctly, but I would never have had the opportunity to drink that much myself.
