KB Panel Door Locks

Hello and thanks for taking time to read this, just acquired a 1948 KB1 Panel truck, my first IH and vehicle from that time. Question, has anyone retro fitted door locks to these trucks? Don't need to go the electronic route, keyed is fine. How it was done and source for locks would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you.

Re: KB Panel Door Locks

Trucks of that vintage had the key lock in the passenger door only, you lock the drivers door with the inside handle, slid across the seat and exited the pass door and locked it with a key
Panel vans, I have no experience with, but if the rear doors had no way to lock, than perhaps they didn't bother with door locks on the cab either.
I'm sure the same door latch was used on panel van cab doors as the trucks, so it comes down to the rear doors, are they lockable?

Re: KB Panel Door Locks

Should have asked, if the passenger door lock key is long gone, is it possible to re-key it, directly, or, replace the cylinder, and if that option, any substitutes?

Re: KB Panel Door Locks

I know locally our key shop can rekey these locks without original key. I just learned this recently as when I tried to get rekey shop said no,,but the BOSS was not there. I used ford lock and it pains me! I do have to get one of my originals rekeyed.

Thanks windago69, that's good to hear, that it's possible to generate a new key from the the old lock.

I think that Robert once said that the locks from the Renult(?) would work.

Thank you lbesq, is there a way I can find that thread? What year(s) model(s) Renault, do you remember?
