Re: 1940 K5 wheel swap

Those are disk hubs, they made two types of hubs disk and spoke, the person ordering had to choose. The spoke adaptors I talked about were a "spider" (spokes) that bolted onto that hub with the lugnuts you have and than the spoke rim attached to the spider in the normal way for spokes. I've seen some at ATHS truck shows, and pictures of course, but they were rare, not the least of why was because who ever ordered the truck had their choice, so why would they change their mind?
I have one K-7 on spokes and the other on disk. If I had my choice they would both be spoke, but I'm not about to change something that functions good enough for my use.
I measured the one K that sits on 9.00x 20 rubber and it has 6" rims, you might get 6.5" on there but I would have to try to be sure.

Driftwoodlizard, "disc wheel hubs" are taking too much space in my van and are too heavy to continue to carry around. Do you still want them?

Re: 1940 K5 wheel swap

The early K5 trucks in Australia only came out with spider wheels the later KB5's came out with only Disc wheels as you can see from the pics attached they can be swapped if you have the hubs to suit.

Re: 1940 K5 wheel swap

After long deliberation and investigation, I took your advice MM and decided to swap out a 1/2 ton front I-beam from a '37 chevy to get down to a workable wheel pattern. Thanks for the info and your time digging out the hubs. Here's a couple pics of the rear notch for the Dana. Will post more of the front this week.

DRL, please send us lots of pictures and descriptions!
I think a lot of people would take a 1.5T and make a 1/2T if they could...
I know I am.
Best of luck!
Don't throw anything away. Somebody will want the leftovers.
