Re: Some new pics

What engine is in the Chevelle?
My now deceased mother-in-law drove a green Chevelle that may have been the year of your car. She had it from new. When she was finished driving, she gave the Chevelle to an adoring 30 year old kid in her neighbourhood. It was better that way. The rest of us have too much stuff.
I would like to have and IHC like the one you have, BUT, I am 6'4" and just over 300#. I would not be able to fold up and get in. The grill on that vintage of IH sort of matches our favorite car.

Truck looks to be in great shape , kind of gives me the bug makes me want to sand something down .What is your next step? what will you do for surface prep just before the primer ? the stages of painting , what to do 1rst, 2nd , vary from person to person was my experience .

Re: Some new pics

Since you asked, the grill is 1940 Ford. There are about 100 pictures of this car build on this forum. Look for it in Non IHC, Our 1940 Ford. The Ford has absorbed a lot of time and money and is nearing completion. It is a good read and while not an IHC, the build up basics are the same as that used on our IHC trucks.

Re: Some new pics

To the person asking about the "stages" of a vehicle build.
1) detailed assessment of the pending project
2) form a plan, stock or modified.
3) take it apart, take pictures. Make a written detailed plan. Those log books that are sold at marine stores are a good option.http://www.westmarine.com/log-books This is where a person should decide on fight or flight. Know when to say no and walk away.
3a) plan on spending lots of your disposable income $10,000 may not be enough for a basic and safe "get-er-runnin un driving" .. Our non IHC is well over $100K. Get your significant other on side and involved. Money problems are the biggest contributor to relationship failure. Anything more than a tune up will require an indoors work space. Did I say tools and lots of them.
4) send everything for metal cleaning. Insist on a ground walnuts shell media. garnet media blast only on the rust. We have used Redi Strip for metal cleaning, with great success. http://redi-strip.com/
5) immediately, have the parts painted with an etching primer like PPG DP40 on all surfaces.
6) body repair and or replace
7) paint
8) assembly with new seals, welting and possibly glass
9) upholstery
10) the engine and everything that makes the project go, roll, start and run, STOP, Ron Francis wiring with good grounding. https://www.ronfrancis.com/
Take it for a first ride.
