Re: Getting new heads

One of the members on here was doing that, I think they made the bumper mount to the hinge so that it moved with the front end, in others words, the clip and the bumper moved as a unit.

Isn' t body work a pain? Real nice '48. Love the go-fast parts and the thought that went into those brakes. Get well soon so you can let us know how how those heads flow.

Re: Getting new heads

Got the heads installed Sunday, along with the roller rockers, new push rods, headers and valve covers. Next will be the new air gap intake manifold as the old Offenhouser was warped and cracked. It's getting closer, one part at a time. It is time consuming to check clearances on the valves to piston, then set the correct push rod length so the roller is centered on the valve stem, but it's worth it knowing it is a good combination with no problems. These 64cc combustion chamber heads will take this 8.5 to 1 compression sbc 400 to a more robust 9.5 or 10 to 1.

Re: Getting new heads

looks like that will give the pickup a little pick up , go easy on those back tires . I noticed the front lever shocks , what do you think of those , do they make a difference ?

Re: Getting new heads

Hopefully this weekend I will get to fire her up. Got the new Edelbrock Airgap intake manifold for it, will put that on tomorrow. Then need to adapt my exhaust to the new headers, put some fluid in her and light the fire. Set the timing to 36 degrees total timing and set the carb and work out any little bugs that might appear.
