I do not think there is a simple answer that will not carry a bunch of controversy with that answer. I suspect some persons make their choice where they find the most comfort.
Scout or IHC trucks, no one get away for free. That $100 barn find in any model is going to cost the new owner a lot of money to make it right.
Scout owners have the benefit of more NOS parts and some reproduction. OLD IHC owners are not so lucky.
I have over 10,000 L&R parts in storage. This makes me lucky. I bought trucks for parting out and storage lockers of good and NOS starting decades ago, before the prices went up. This makes this hobby very affordable, for me, now. I have very little for sale, but I have left a detailed exit plan.
