Automatic Trans - bell housing hole

I am putting a 1977 Scout ii with the Chrysler A727 automatic transmission back on the road after 20 years of barn storage.
On the left side- bottom of the bell housing is a threaded hole about 5/16" diameter.
Located about under the driver's right foot. All the linkage is hooked up, it runs and shifts well.
What is that hole for?
There are clean threads in the hole.
Thank you.

Re: Automatic Trans - bell housing hole

Rod from Scout Plus came up with the answer that it is a mounting hole for other automotive applications.
Thank you Rod.

Re: Automatic Trans - bell housing hole

I put a 304 - 727 into an R120. It fits.
I would rather have tools I do not need than to need tools I do not have
