76' 1700 4x4 - Army
1976 International Loadstar 4x4
SV-392 gas engine (I think with improved cooling)
T-496 5 speed transmission
T-223H transfer case
Rockwell rear end - I think 7.17 gears
NAPCO front end
What do I want to do with it? I think I want to restore the cab (frame off), repower with a 6v53T, and adjust the ring and pinion gears for better highway use to pull trailers, Airstream, and haul the occasional big truck or item for self and friends.
It should be noted that I have a complete 1975 1850 donor vehicle with a 6v53 and I have the Turbo and necessary attachments to go from a naturally aspirated engine to a turbo. I believe I may have to use the transmission in addition to the Detroit engine because the SV transmissions don't bolt up so easy to a Detroit.
What ring and pinion gear options are available to me? Also, having a NAPCO front end, does that limit me? My goal would be to keep this 4x4 with a 6v53 turbo'd Detroit.
Any thoughts, and opinions are greatly appreciated in advance.
