Definitely sounds like a good plan Jared: Judging by the size of the trucks I have seen with one in them it looks like it should fit without to much trouble, but I would really like to see one in person and take measurements from that, that way I can get a good idea of how much room is needed for everything in front of the engine. Maybe I should have stated it differently and said if it fits I have decided to go with it LOL.

I guess I can call the rear main seal completed. I plugged a few other leaks as well and it's time to move on to other aspects of getting this old girl back in service. I still have a small oil leak coming from somewhere in the back of the engine, but it's not bad enough to track down, especially since I plan on repowering soon, hopefully this winter. I have a couple of videos below, part 2 and 3 of the rear main seal install. This weekend I hope to get to the salvage yard and pick up a new to me gas pedal. the previous owner made one from an old barn door hing and it's rusted up and sticking. So the next project is getting the pedal and linkage working smoothly. I figured out my break light dilemma, the truck used to be a tractor and still has the manual trailer break handle, the handle had moved and was charging the system with enough air to trigger the pressure switch.

I've decided to put a DT466 into one of my cabover Loadstars. I bought a 1980 Dt466 a year or so ago and was planning on putting that into it, but just recently bought a 1998 DT466E. The newer DT466E was out of a Norco truck that caught fire when an acetylene tank fell over and blew up. The engine wasn't damaged and for $400 I couldn't pass up that deal. For my needs I like the newer DT466E over the old DT466 as it has all of the accessories close to the block and attached. I bought both of them off Craigslist when the prices were right. The older one came with a 5 speed transmission for only $350.

I have the DT466E sitting outside of my shop right now while I build an engine stand for it. If you need some detailed pictures or measurements let me know and I can get them to you.

Wow: Those are some smokin deals! It would be fantastic to find a deal like that around here. I could definitely use some pic's and good measurements, would be greatly appreciated.

I'll try to get some pictures taken and some measurements for you this weekend after I finish the stand for it.

Did the newer motor come with a transmission? Kinda looking for an automatic. Also a 6 speed standard.

The 1998 DT466E didn't come with a transmission. I think I'll be using the 5 speed that came with the older one.

So I was able to finish building the engine stand for the DT466E on Saturday and took some pictures and measurements.
Engine is approximately 36" wide and 60" in length from the fan to the throw out bearing.

Let me know if you need to know anything else.

Thank you Mick: Nice looking stand you put together. These measurements will be very helpful. Could you tell me the measurements from the fan to the back of the head?

Thanks
Mike.
