Loadstar Alternator

Again. I posted a while back about the worn out pivot hole in the delco alternator on my 71 Loadstar 1600 truck. I'm thinking of trying to order a new/rebuilt alternator to keep on hand in case this one finally flies to pieces from the vibration. I can't find any identification on the alternator or in the manual to help in ordering parts. All I have is from the "build sheet" on the sun visor indicating that it came with the 37 amp alternator. (080520027G) but I don't think that is a part number. Of course mine has the external regulator under the dash, not the newer single wire alternator. I see a kind of similar alternator advertised in the IH parts America site listed on this forum but can't say for sure if it would be the right one for my Loadstar 304. http://www.shopih.com/IHENG-ALT-p-AL.html
Just curious if anybody here might have a part number for me to work with before I get on the phone with Napa.

Re: Loadstar Alternator

Sounds like you have an old Delco DN-10 Alternator which is obsolete and replaced by the 10SI which is the internal regulated altenator. You can buy a new houseing here for the old DN

You can buy either the front or rear depending on which you need.
The front (Drive end) is part number 21-100 he rear is 22-100 (on page 7).Each is under $15, so cheaper then an altenator.

Thanks very much for that information. I will keep it handy. I have a guy working now at locating a new front housing locally. Plus I realized I have an older GM vehicle here with one of those alternators that I could borrow if the one on the truck suddenly quits.
