Rims and tires for a 66 Loadstar 1600

Hi Folks. I need some tire guidance. I have a 1966 Loadstar 1600 with 8.25 20 split ring tires that I want to swap out for radials and non-split ring rims. I've read that I can go with a larger...aka more readily available...tire size and want to get your thoughts on this as well.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Stud pilot or spoke? You have to know how wide the spokes are if spoke. How wide the spacer band also. May not be able to go wider rims, it depends on what is on there now. If stud pilot wheels how many lugs? If 5 lug, good luck finding something that isn't lock-ring. If 6 lug there are some choices but not many. There are or were radials in 8.25 x20 size but there aren't many mfg making them anymore. Sumitomo still list them in ST727 tire model but they are the only one.
If your present rims are wide enough for 9.00x20's there is the Sumitomo's and Hankook AH11's. I run the Hankook's in the 10.00 X20 size on my road tractor and am very happy with them. Both are radial ply.
With the tire off the rim, measure from side to side internally. 9.00's should go on a 7" rim width, but will likely be ok on a 6.5" width but no narrower. If you have 6" rims now you would need to find wider ones to go with a 9.00.
Finding tubeless in that narrow a width may be hard to impossible.
Oh and if you don't know this, tubeless, you add 2.5" to the rim width and one tire size to get the equivalent tubeless size. So a 8,25X20 is the same size as a 9.00 x22.5, but the tubeless goes on a 22.5 rim that is 7 or 7.5 inches wide. A 9.00 X 20 translates to a 10 x 22.5 and that tire goes on a 7.5" rim width. The tubeless rims are wider then the tube type for the same overall tire size. Most common 22.5 rims are either 8.25" or 9 " in width. The narrower width rims are not too common, and I don't think I've seen one below 7.5"

I have a set of 5-lug 22.5 rims that are going on my L-160 that are 6 or 6.75 inches, can't recall fer sure. I have a set of 9r22.5 tires that will be going on them once I get them blasted and painted. So they are out there but I've only seen one other truck with them and they were only on the front end with I think 235/80/22.5 tires. There is a metric size that's close to a 9r22.5 but it wants a little bit wider rim; 6.75 minumum and 7.5 is just right. If you have 6-lug, some '80's IH medium duty trucks used them in a tubeless. We had a 4600 or 4700 lowpro at work that used them.
