Nice find! Electric? . . . . interesting, I'll be watching. Keep up the nice work, I like the Hudsons Bay lettering.

Into the rusty stuff...

Anyway, I feel that I might be a year to two ahead of the electric conversion movement being more mainstream. There are more options coming out all the time.

Re: Bought another one

This is a head scratcher to me.
The metro van door steps and front floor were made with a pattern of diamond plate I can’t seem to find anywhere.
Here is a link to a pic

Any ideas out there? I need to replace the steps and would love to match the original.

Markus, I was checking out D valintino vids and paused on the floor, he has the same stuff, he may be able to help.

I would bet on IHC either making their own tread-plate design or having it custom made to their design. Can you say, for sure, that diamond plate is an original IH piece?

My diamond plate is original diamond plate. If you look on the backside of the plate there is a cross or a T. It looks like it could easily be made with a straight punch about 1/2" long and a press. Just make sure you go the same depth for each pressing

I'll get under there and take a picture of the bottom side of the plate

Re: Bought another one

Thanks for the thoughts on the diamond plate. I contacted a few metal fabricators - the cost to get 2 steps made is more than I paid for the van... I have a few more cards up my sleeve to try and sort that out.
Bumper question- I always thought the painted front bumper on the metros looked a bit clunky or heavy. I think a chrome bumper would look great with that grill. I have definitely seen c series trucks and travelalls with a nice slim chrome bumper. I know it would involve modifying the bumper brackets.
Just wondering if anyone knows the measurements to see if it would “fit”? Other options?
