That's why I found the bumpers from a 1950, I thought the bumper was way to big for the shorty, paint or chromed. Love the rear bumper on my truck.

Re: Bought another one

The chances of me finding 50s metro bumpers are the same as my chances of marrying an Italian bikini model.
Not good. Not good at all.

Re: Bought another one

I searched the new Metro items on eBay every morning while I was building the truck. I still search it every morning looking for NOS Snap-on tools that would work in the truck. Things pop up, you never know, that's how I got my bumpers.

Looking good. What are you going to do where the cab meets the fenders? On my '51 there was gap between there once we sand blasted it. We welded the seem and glassed over it. Does yours have that gap there? Not sure what the purpose of the seem was.

I’m not sure I can find the seam you mean?
I have put in an order for replacement rocker panels from a wonderful guy in Cali who has been super helpful. He does them as a side hustle and is making panels for all the common rust spots

Where was this guy when I was doing mine? They must have changed the seem on the later Metros, you would see it.
Did you get your door rubber yet?

Re: Bought another one

I haven’t ordered rubber yet. There is a company on eBay selling full rubber kits for the van. I am open to suggestions for sure.

Re: Bought another one

I ordered my rubber from him but at the time he was not doing the door rubber. If the door rubber is not in the kit, let me know, I have a place out here in California that makes them.

Body work is moving along slowly but surely. I am basically replacing the bottom 12” all the way around the van. I have a bunch of small parts and the weatherstripping kit sitting in Montana - Hoping the border opens sometime this summer!?
Just wanted to give a shout out to “Bedrock John” who is active on this site. I bought a few pieces from him at a fair price with easy communication.
With a recent Covid surge locally, I am not travelling to see my van these days. I am hoping someone can tell me the following measurements for a metro shorty 1960
Wheel mounting surface(wms)
Wheel offset(et)
I am leaning towards a chassis swap with late 90s Ford Explorer sport model. Has the identical 102” wheelbase. Just trying to confirm that track width also works...
THanks
